When you create a project and select a map in Cadence, a permanent overlay called Basemap is added by default. You can rename this Basemap and change its visual theme from a list of available styles.
To rename the base map
On a project map:
- Select the Basemap overlay from the overlay list
- In the name field, enter the new name you want for the base map
To change the base map theme
On a project map:
- Select the Basemap overlay
- Click the name field or the theme selector to open the list of available base map themes
- Choose a theme from the following options:
- OS Open Black and White
- OS Open Dark
- OS Open Greyscale
- OS Open Light
- OS Open Outdoor
- OS Open Road
- OS MasterMap Buildings
- OS MasterMap Topography Open Black and White
- OS MasterMap Topography Open Dark
- OS MasterMap Topography Open Greyscale
- OS MasterMap Topography Open Light
- OS MasterMap Topography Open Outdoor
- OS MasterMap Topography Open Road
- Mapbox Streets
- Mapbox Satellite Streets
- Mapbox Monochrome Dark
- Mapbox Monochrome Light
- Mapbox Monochrome Midnight
- Mapbox Outdoors
Note: Changing the theme will reset the Basemap layer visibility settings.
To toggle map labels over overlays
On the Basemap overlay,
- Under Appearance, toggle Map labels over overlays on or off to show or hide labels on top of other overlays
To adjust layer visibility of the basemap
On the Basemap overlay,
- Under Layer visibility, view the number of layers shown as X of Y layers with a pencil icon
- Select the pencil icon to open the layer visibility options
- Choose which map elements to display, including text, lines, and Polygons by toggling them on or off
This allows you to customise which basemap features are visible on your project map.
