Layers visualise data over the map. There are three different types of Layers
- Joinable data: data that can be visually represented in one or more ways
- Map layer: a collection of geographical points (for example, bus stops)
- Screen annotation: extra information displayed on top of the map (for example, a compass)
On a project map,
- Select Add layer, the Add layer modal will appear with a list of all available layers
- To help explore or find layers, you can filter by selecting Source or Type. You can also filter using the text field
- Select an layer from the list
- If it is a joinable data layer a Pick a target geometry modal will appear. Select a target geometry (how the layer data is represented on the map)
- The modal will close automatically and the layer will appear on the map and in the side-bar
There are hundreds of built in layers. If you upload files with layerdata then these will also appear in the Add layermodal and can be filtered by selecting Source, Built in.
