What is a project?

A project is the top-level container in Cadence. It stores your maps, uploaded files, and collaborators.

Every map you create lives inside a project. All maps in a project share the same project bounds (the geographic area the project covers) and the same file storage. If you upload a data file to a project, it’s available to every map in that project — you don’t need to re-upload it.

Key things to know

  • A project has one owner. Any number of collaborators can be added.
  • Only one person can edit a project at a time. If someone else has it open, you’ll see a message that it’s locked.
  • Collaborators are added by email address. Cadence doesn’t send a notification when someone is added; you’ll need to let them know yourself.
  • Collaborators see the project in their projects list once they’ve been added.
