Creating charts
- Select Charts
- Select the + Add chart button.
- An add chart modal will appear. In this modal, pick a geometry, such as LSOA.
- If the data is OA, LSOA, MSOA, or LAD, you can choose to group by the higher level or use the original.
- You can group by LSOA, MSOA, and LAD. This reflects how the data is grouped on the chart.
- For example:
- If you select OA, you get the following group by options: Use original (OA), LSOA, MSOA, and LAD.
- If you select MSOA, you get the following group by options: Use original (MSOA) and LAD.
- If you select LAD, it is read only and shows use original.
- Any other geometries used outside these always group by using the original.
- You can then select a method, which is the calculation. You get one of the following options to choose from:
- Average
- Count
- Total
- Maximum
- Minimum
- You have a pick data field where you select built-in data at the selected geometry level.
- You can select Ok to create the chart, Cancel to not create it, or Clear all to clear selected data.
A bar chart is created by default.
Chart configuration
In the chart section, you can name the chart in the name field.
The Chart type displays a drop-down menu:
- If there is only 1 data item, the only option is bar chart.
- If there are 2 data items, the options become bar, line, and pie.
- If there are 3 or more data items, the options are bar, line, radar, and pie.
Geometry and data section
The edit geometry or data option opens up the add chart modal, but it is called edit geometry or data with the same options as in the add chart modal.
There is a geometry filter field. Depending on how the data is grouped, this field will show the geometries included on the chart at that level where you can choose to remove or add them.
Alternatively, there is an Edit in map view option where you can click these geometries on and off in a filter geometry modal. This modal shows the same list as in the geometry filter field and lets you click these on and off on a map or using the filter field or by clicking on the name which reflects on the map.
Adding a chart to a map

- Select the Chart overlay.
- You can name the chart overlay.
